5 Star Romance Rating Scale
As a credible historical and regency romance book reviewer Lyrica Lovel always tries to rate books accurately on the one to five rating scale. This gives an accurate picture of what the book is like to her website readers before they select an author or book.
The five stars, from one to five, are all outlined below. However, not everyone will agree with the system or the candid, sometimes even scathing reviews that Lyrica Lovell Publishes.
Some reviewers only post four and five-star reviews. It makes you wonder if their reviews are credible. Lyrica Lovell posts all of her reviews, the good, the bad, and the ugly. You will see one-star review books on the site up to five-star review books. Since everyone is different, you may enjoy a book rated with a lower number of stars on this website because you enjoy different types of characters and storylines. Or you may be of a similar mind as Lyrica.
However, authors must earn five-star reviews. They are not given out willy nilly. Without further ado, here is the ranking system.
One Star
It takes effort or a severe lack thereof to write a one-star book. Books in this range are typically distasteful in some way or do not hold the reader’s attention. They are filled with distracting or glaringly obvious grammatical errors. They also might contain contradictory plot errors. Books ranked one out of five stars are pitiable at best.
Two Star
Books that garner a two-star review will typically have something within the storyline or plot that was intensely distasteful. They may contain multiple fluff chapters that do not hold the reader’s attention. However, no more than half of the book is dull. They may also have minor grammatical or plot errors that may not be apparent to the untrained eye.
Three Star
Books that get a three-star review will typically have minor elements that make the story unpleasant. Still, it can be easily overlooked because the rest of the book is good. They can have some slow parts, but typically no more than one-fourth of the book is fluff. Furthermore, less than five grammatical errors are typically spotted in these books.
Four Star
Books that get a four-star review are usually excellent. The book may have minor details that could have been ironed out, but they are typically not glaringly obvious. Overall the book and author are quite accomplished if they receive a four-star ranking.
Five Star
Wow, go read that book now! It is a spot-on form of literature.

The Clean To Steamy Romance Scale
The Lyrica Lovell review has a special aspect that not all reviews use. Not only is the book ranked on a traditional one to the five-star ranking system but each book is also ranked on the clean to steamy romance scale. This is a scale that gives readers an idea of what to expect as it pertains to the level of intimacy that is featured within a book.
