Book Review: The Duke that I Want By Alexa Aston
It was quite a week last week, and I didn’t get as much reading done as I usually do. I have quite a backlog of books to review now. However, I did have the opportunity to read Alexa Aston’s wonderful continuation of her hit series, Dukes of Distinction. I read the primary five books of this series as they were released, and each and every one of them was good. It has been almost two years since the fifth book of this series was released, so it was hard to remember back to the ins and outs of all the characters related to the book. But after diving in, it all became clearer.

About The Duke that I Want
The Duke That I Want by Alexa Aston was a short novella add-on to the end of the Dukes of Distinction’s connected world. This add-on was just a taste of the future of the series characters. The book’s heroine was the sister of book four’s hero Jonathan Sutton. Her name was Lady Elizabeth Sutton, and she was quite a bit younger than the set of twins featured in Duke of Arrogance. Elizabeth was a bit of a hellion, similar to that of her brother. She always spoke her mind and went after everything she wanted. When she met Philip Ware, the new Duke of Dewberry, she decided she wanted him, and well, the rest is history!
Philip Ware was the second son of the Duke of Dewberry, holding with the series theme of second sons who acquired the title. Philip loses his father and brother in a tragic accident and becomes the unexpected new Duke. He has some ties to the main group of men from the series, who were all friends. However, he was not one of the group. He’s several years younger than them. Jonathan’s sister is the main thing that connects this book to the connected world.
Being a novella, this was a really short story. It was only 79 pages long, and the romance itself, while fascinating simply because it revisits old characters, was very fast. The couple was engaged in three or four days and then married in less than a month. To top that off, they were not an arranged marriage or a marriage of scandal, but a love match.
However, this book has a really happy romantic ending! It could serve as a stand-alone novella or be read as part of the series.
