Educated By The Earl is the first book in the Second Sons of London series by Alexa Aston. It is one of her newest series and takes you back in time to some of her older books as the plotlines mirror each other closely. 

Summary Of Educated By the Earl

Educated By The Earl follows the love story of Spenser Haddock, the Earl of Middlefield, and Lady Tessa Foster. The story starts a little dry with the detailed background of how Haddock became the Earl of Middlefield. If you are familiar with Alexa Astons Dukes Done Wrong series that follows five-second sons sent to a boarding school for awfully behaved or unwanted royals, you will see the similarities between the two series. 

The book starts with Haddock being “stripped of his title” at the all-boys school, where he makes fast friends with a few of the boys. He then grows up and heads off to the war as a second son, hints at the series name Seconds Sons of London. 

If you can get past the first 1/8th of the book, you will love it; however, be warned that getting over the first few chapters is rough sailing. You will find mentions of:

• Blood brother pacts
• Young brides
• Arrogant characters

However, when the book gets good, it really gets good and races to greatness. Enterlaced in the book are some amusing moments that make you laugh as you read along. For instance, make sure to note the names of the Earl of Middlefield’s butler and housekeeper. Alexa Aston is a witty author and always adds these kinds of funny details.

One Big Conspiracy

Alexa Aston is great at creating redeemable characters. In the beginning, you will probably hate the Earl or, at the very least, dislike him. By the end, you are falling in love with his character. He is truly made better through the eyes of love because love is blind. The novel drives home the point.

If you like your romance novels on the steamy side, then Educated By The Earl is for you. With a rating of four flaming hearts, you will encounter a variety of intimate details that are subtly and craftily woven into the storyline to spice it up.

Educated By The Earl is rated four stars by Lyrica Lovell. It was a fantastic story and a highly recommended read. You will enjoy the instant love, witty humor, passion, and a creative storyline. The novel lost one star for the slower start at the beginning of the book, which lasted for the first three chapters or so.
