Book Review: Persuasions of an Earl’s Daughter By Samantha Holt
Persuasions of an Earl’s Daughter is a light-hearted, action-packed, Regency-era romance by Samatha Holt. In this book, her characters are a perfect pair.

The Characters and the Story
Lady Lilly Musgrave is the strong-willed, impulsive, horserace-loving hellion, and Lord August Beresford is the scandal-ridden “virgin rake” that finally makes her life of longing for adventure complete. Both of these characters have a strong desire to help those around them. Plus, this duo is highly athletic, and they are both on the outskirts of society (for different reasons, though).
With all these similarities, you would think they would hit it off instantly. However, the book was carefully crafted into a witty version of an enemies-to-lovers trope.
What I Didn’t Like
With all of this said, there were a few pet peeves I had about the book. For instance, in Persuasions of an Earl’s Daughter, Lady Lily’s full name is repeated multiple times, giving the story an almost juvenile feel, i.e., she is called: Lady Lilly Musgrave.
This book strives to be so inclusive to the point that it almost takes away from the story. The problems that have Lady Lilly and her family cast out of society are, not serious scandals, and thus this gives further to the notion that the entire book is light-hearted.
Jump Into the Series
Persuasions of an Earl’s Daughter is book 9 in The Duchess’s Investigative Society, but there is enough background story within the book that if you jump in here (like I did), you will still understand the story!
Where can you get this book?
This book is set to publish on April 10, 2023, and you can snag this book on Amazon if you want to read it! I give this book a three-star review as it was not my favorite read, but some parts were amusing. However, it gets five flaming hearts for intimacy as it is a steamy read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily giving it a review.
