I released For the Love of a Scottish Lass one week ago! As promised in my launch blog, I am going to give out a second sneak peek of the book! I had over nine rounds of editing for this book, and there are probably still things that I missed. However, in my final rounds of editing for this book, I went through and picked out my favorite passages and quotes. Now, for the sneak peek, here are five of them. The entire book is written from a third-person perspective, which is how the Regency Romance Genre is primarily written. The glimpses provided below are all associated with Beth’s thoughts and feelings; the first round of sneak peeks was Bennit’s thoughts and feelings.

Title: For the Love of a Scottish Lass

Author: Lyrica Lovell

Page Count: 134

Series: Lords of Seductive Language

But before I jump into the scenes, here’s a little about For the Love of a Scottish Lass. The book combines fun tropes, such as the love’s second chance, second sons becoming dukes, and flashbacks. It is a Regency romance set primarily in Scotland between a duke, Bennet Bashing, and the lower-class Bethany MacLachlan.

Beware, there are spoilers ahead!

1.) Bennit and Beth’s very first meeting

“Impatience at the young age of sixteen was never a good thing because it often led to curiosity. And sadly, curiosity was what killed so many cats. But curious she was, so she crept around the wall of the gardens. She made sure to hurry as quickly as she could across the arched opening so that no one would spot her from the windows of the massive manor hall.

“Who goes there?” came a voice from behind her.”

2.) Moments from the Flashback Scene

“Then, he began to count out their steps as he danced gracefully around the room. It made her realize their difference in society. He had a suave, elegant grace as he led her around the ballroom, where she was clumsy on her feet and stepped on his toes more than a few times.”

3.) One of Seven Puropsals Bennit Makes

“He simply nodded at first, then replied with such confidence that she knew he meant every word he said. “When you are one and twenty, if you have not yet wed, I am going to come back and marry you.”

The outlandishness of the statement made Bethany, even at sixteen, laugh. The son of a duke did not marry the daughter of a tenant farmer.”

4.) Bennit and Beth Washing Dishes

“As if Bennit could read her mind, he said, “I’m here right now, aren’t I? Our worlds must not be as far apart as you think.” She smiled at him. Knowing if this was something Bennit wanted, then he would never stop trying to get it.”

5.) The Closing Lines

“Before Beth drifted off to sleep, she heard Bennit whisper, “Thank you,” in her ear.

“Fer wha’?” She asked him.

“For waiting for me, for marrying me.” He whispered, “for loving me.”

She smiled against his chest, “Always.””
